Empowering Women in Leprosy Care

To bridge the critical skill gap in physiotherapy and rehabilitation services for people affected by leprosy, LEPRA Society launched the Physio Care Assistants (PCA) initiative in April 2022 an inclusive, gender-sensitive model that empowers women, particularly from leprosy-affected families, to become frontline rehabilitation workers. The initiative is supported by the Rotary Global Grant and LEPRA UK, and implemented in collaboration with the Schieffelin Institute of Health Research and Leprosy Centre.
