HIV Intervention

Under the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFTAM) – Grant Cycle 07, LEPRA Society has been implementing the SAATHII HIV Project as a Sub-Recipient since July 2024. The project focuses on enhancing ART (Anti-Retroviral Therapy) adherence, access to treatment, and community-based support for People Living with HIV (PLHIV) in collaboration with government systems. Contributes to India’s goal of ending AIDS by 2030 under the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP), in close coordination with State AIDS Control Societies (SACS) of AP and Telangana

Where We Work

Implemented in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

  • Andhra Pradesh: 11 Care and Support Centres (CSC 2.0)Operates across 5 districts
  • Telangana: 5 Centres serve 4 districts.
  • Prisons and Other Closed Settings (P&OCS): 83 prisons and 30 Swadhar, Ujwala. State homes, 18 Juvenile homes and 20 drug de-addiction centres in AP, 37 Prisons and 20 other closed settings in Telangana.

What We Do

  • Provide psychosocial counselling and nutritional guidance and linkage to ART (Anti-Retroviral Therapy) services.
  • Implement HIV interventions in Prisons and Other Closed Settings (P&OCS)
  • leads the Prisons and Other Closed Settings (P&OCS) HIV program, conducting awareness sessions, HIV screenings, and care linkage in prisons, shelters, juvenile homes, and de-addiction centres across both states
  • Train healthcare workers in Vijayawada to strengthen institutional HIV service delivery

  • Improved HIV status awareness and ART (Anti-Retroviral Therapy) adherence
  • Better access to treatment and support services for PLHIV
  • Strengthened community-based and institutional HIV care systems
